Federal funding, awarded by your state
National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program
Federal money for public fast chargers along major highways, awarded by your state.
What it pays for
- Up to 80% of the eligible cost to build, operate and maintain publicly available EV charging
- Starting with DC fast charging on the highway corridors your state has designated
- Awarded to private site hosts, charging companies and public agencies through state solicitations
What decides it
- Where the site is, relative to the corridors in your state's plan
- Meeting the federal minimum standards, including four ports of at least 150 kW each and 97% uptime
- Your share of the cost, and a commitment to operate the station for years after it opens
Where it stands
Federal guidance for NEVI changed during 2025, and each state sets its own timetable. Rounds open and close state by state, and we track them on our deadline calendar.
Last reviewed October 2026 against the official sources below. Program rules change; we confirm the current rules before any application.
How we help
- Find the state rounds your sites fit, and when they open
- Screen each site against the corridor rules and the federal standards
- Write the application, the budget and the cost-share plan
- Keep the reporting current after the award
$2,500 per application, plus 5% of funds received. How fees work
