State fuel credits, earned every quarter

Washington Clean Fuel Standard (Clean Fuels Program)

In Washington, chargers and clean fuels earn credits that can be sold, under a program run since 2023.

What it pays for

  • Credits for electricity dispensed to electric vehicles
  • Credits for low-carbon fuels produced or supplied in Washington
  • Credits sold to the fuel suppliers the standard applies to

What decides it

  • Registering with the Department of Ecology and reporting through its system
  • Who generates the credits at each site
  • Metered data, reported on time, with records kept for review

Where it stands

The standard has applied since January 2023 and tightens over time. We apply the current rules to each site.

Last reviewed October 2026 against the official sources below. Program rules change; we confirm the current rules before any application.

These credits are earned for as long as the station or fuel keeps running, so the work is recurring: registration once, then reporting every quarter. We run it as an ongoing service.

How we help

  • Register with the Department of Ecology
  • Collect the meter data and file the quarterly reports
  • Keep the records ready for review
  • Coordinate credit sales or transfers

$2,500 per application, plus 5% of funds received. How fees work
